Celebrating its 35th season, the Cape Breton Chorale presented its thirty-sixth consecutive Christmas concert on Sunday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. in St Andrew's Church, Bentinck Street, Sydney, NS. Many consider the Chorale's Christmas presentation as the kick-off of the holiday season and this year it continued to draw an appreciative audience. The accompanying photo shows the 1974 Chorale in warm-up rehearsal at Sydney CJCB-TV studios prior to a Christmas TV presentation. Six of the twenty-four members in this photo took part in this year's concert.
Entitled "Sing Gloria", this year's presentation featured "Glorias" by Vivaldi, Rutter and others in an eclectic mix of sacred and secular Christmas favourites - some familiar to the ear and some in new and different arrangements. As usual, the audience was asked to join the Chorale in celebrating the Christmas season with a selection of well-known carols.
