TThe Celtic Mass for the Sea is a hauntingly beautiful choral work by composer/conductor Scott Macmillan. It has been produced more than 50 times across Canada and in many other countries, but this is its debut at Celtic Colours. Thanks to collaboration from across Cape Breton and beyond, a 50 voice composite choir, a string quintet, vocal and instrumental soloists will join forces to present this unique piece at two of our finest theatres. Singers from the Cape Breton Chorale and the Inverness County Singers were rehearsed by their directors, Sister Rita Clare and Marion MacLeod and came together with Paula Jane Francis on the piano and Shawn MacDonald leading the string section. Soloists include Chris Stout and Catriona McKay from Scotland, Mary Jane Lamond, Brian Doyle, Glenn Coolen and Aurelie Cormier. This is a rare opportunity you won't want to miss.
