The two performances of Scott Macmillan's Celtic Mass for the Sea, under the baton of the composer/ conductor, were highlight events in the 2007 Celtic Colours Festival.
In a collaboration from across Cape Breton and beyond, a 50 voice composite choir, a string quintet, vocal and instrumental soloists joined forces to present this unique piece at two of our finest theatres. Singers from the Cape Breton Chorale and the Inverness County Singers were rehearsed by their directors, Sister Rita Clare and Marion MacLeod and came together with Paula Jane Francis on the piano and Shawn MacDonald leading the string section. Soloists included Chris Stout and Catriona McKay from Scotland, Mary Jane Lamond, Brian Doyle, Glenn Coolen, Aurelie Cormier, Greg Finney and Chris Lorway.
